A number of roads have been flooded and rail services disrupted as heavy rain hits north-west England. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of heavy rain across the region. Merseyside Police said it had put temporary closures in place in the Seaforth Road and Knowsley Road area in Bootle.

Further heavy rain could lead to flooding and transport disruption across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the Met Office has warned. A yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued and is in place from 16:00 BST on Sunday until 09:00 on Monday.
