CHENNAI, India (Reuters) - Production will remain suspended indefinitely at a Tata Electronics plant in southern India that makes Apple iPhone components after a fire at the weekend, officials said on Monday as they acted to prevent further damage from the blaze.

Sources aware of the development said that even as the production has been halted in the plant, shipments will not be impacted as enough stocks are available for the next three months. Tata Electronics is the first known Indian company that has been shortlisted by Apple for supply of iPhone components.

Officials at the Tata Electronics plant in Tamil Nadu that makes Apple iPhone components said on Monday, 30 September 2024 that the production will remain suspended indefinitely after a fire broke out at the plant.
