The Alabama Sports Writers Association high school football rankings with first-place votes, win-loss record and total poll points heading into Week 5 of the AHSAA season. Others receiving votes: Dothan (2-3) 12, Baker (4-1) 5, Vestavia Hills (1-4) 3, Prattville (4-1) 2.

Week 5 of the 2024 college football season featured the wildest slate yet, filled with major upsets and results that completely shifted the national landscape. As such, there was a lot of movement in this week's Coaches Poll top 25.

High school football games continued throughout the state of Alabama Sep. 26-27 and there was plenty of great action taking place. The No. 1 team in the Yellowhammer State remains Central-Phenix City after no game with IMG Academy and then followed by the Saraland Spartans and Thompson.

Alabama returned to No. 1 in The Associated Press college football poll for the first time in two years Sunday following its dizzying victory over Georgia, making this 16 of 17 seasons the Crimson Tide has held the top spot at some point.
