Stock-market investors got what they wanted when the Federal Reserve delivered an extra-large September rate cut — the risk now is that strong jobs data in the week ahead could be too much of a good thing.

Stocks in September have been negative for four years in a row but momentum from the rate cut could bring change.

Stocks have historically reacted well to Fed rate cuts. Since 1971, the first Fed cut has led to positive returns for investors 100% of the time in the next six months, with an average gain of 13%, according to Fundstrat's Tom Lee.
