Virginia Tech thought it had escaped with one of the biggest upsets of the season in Miami Gardens, Fla., when the referees initially ruled Hokies receiver Da’Quan Felton had come down with a Hail Mary attempt from quarterback Kyron Drones as time expired.

No. 7 Miami overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and got help from a controversial last-second call to pick up a 38-34 win over Virginia Tech at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday. The Hurricanes had to sweat out a late scare after Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones threw what appeared to be a 30-yard touchdown pass on the game's final play to receiver  Da'Quan Felton.

Miami came away with a 38-34 victory in the ACC game. The Hurricanes trailed for much of the contest but Cam Ward pulled off a miraculous plays shaking off a couple of Hokie sack attempts to flip a pass to Riley Williams that somehow went for 26 yards.
