Selecting “AI Playlist” from the drop-down menu will then open a chat box to describe the playlist you want, such as “spooky songs to play during Halloween” or “soothing folk music for a chill bath time.

The AI-powered playlist creation tool can be found in the “Your Library” tab by selecting the plus button (+) at the top right of the screen and choosing “AI Playlist” in the menu next to “Playlist” and “Blend.” Users can tap the “Create” button to save the playlist to their library.

Spotify's AI Playlist, which is like a chatbot for creating playlists, is rolling out to more premium subscribers in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand.

In a blog post the music streaming giant recommends subscribers stick to "genre," "mood" or "artist" prompts to generate the most successful playlists, but it stipulates that anything from movie characters to emojis can be used. Examples include, "Upbeat folk music for a scenic fall road trip," and "2000 era hype jams for the tailgate."

After coming to the U.K. and Australia in April, Spotify 's AI playlist function is now available for users in the US, New Zealand, Canada, and Ireland. In Spotify's own words: "AI Playlist combines Spotify’s powerful personalization technology with generative AI so users can turn their most creative ideas into playlists."
