Shakib Al Hasan has announced his retirement from T20Is, and hinted at calling time on his Test career following the match in Kanpur against India.

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan is eligible for the second Test against India. Shakib's performance and injuries have been a concern, but the coach remains optimistic about his selection and team's prospects.

Shakib further emphasized that the current tour of India is perhaps the toughest assignment for Bangladesh in recent times.

The second Test match will begin on September 27, and the visitors have enough time to assess Shakib Al Hasan's injury and decide his availability.

Shakib’s announcement comes a day before his team’s second Test against India at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Shakib's Test career began against India in May 2007 in Chattogram, and since then, he has represented Bangladesh in 70 Tests.

Bangladesh are hosting South Africa for a two-match series in October and the 37-year-old is hopeful that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will take care of the security concerns
