Sources at District Puja Udjapan Parishad office said the Durga Puja festival will begin on October 9 with the performing of Moha Sashthi Puja and conclude on October 13 through immersion of idols of Goddess Durga and other deities in different water bodies after Bijaya Dashomi celebration.

Radical Islamic groups in Bangladesh have threatened the minority Hindus not to openly celebrate Durga Puja in the country and are against nationwide holidays during the festival. They also asked the Hindus not to protest against them.

As the Hindu community in Bangladesh prepares to celebrate Durga Puja, they face a growing wave of violence and discrimination from extremist groups.
