Katie Boulter is out of the China Open after suffering a straight-set defeat by Coco Gauff on Sunday. The British number one was beaten 7-5 6-2 by the world number six, who progresses to the fourth round in Beijing.

Boulter is coming off a defeat to No. 74-ranked Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, 5-7, 5-7, in the Round of 64 at the US Open. In the US Open (her previous tournament), Gauff was defeated in the Round of 16 by No. 12-ranked Emma Navarro, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6.

It promises to be a great day of WTA Beijing action on Saturday. Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka are two of the top players who will play their round of 32 matches.

In her last match on September 1, 2024, Gauff was defeated 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 versus Emma Navarro in the Round of 16 of the US Open. Over the past two years, in the lone match between Burel and Gauff (in the Round of 64 of the BNP Paribas Open), Gauff won 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.
